Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session

Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

The British racer, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.

Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.

The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.

His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.

Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to avoid just a slight brush of the fence.

The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the high-speed corner before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.

The veteran ended the session in P19, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.

The McLaren pair were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.

The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
